So many people today are decorating their homes and offices with glass tables and chairs. It adds a very contemporary and modern look. It certainly does stand out, but choose it only if it either compliments or matches your other furniture. It will stand out and could look ugly and you do not want that.

If wanting elegance but with a metal base for the glass table and chairs set, try looking for one that has intricate styling. Some are made of wrought iron and can be made with roses or just plain. Some designs will come with fancy feet on the table and chairs, scrolling up or out. They are still a bit on the modern style but if that is what best suits you and your décor, and then by all means buy it.
